New Draft of CC Ireland Licence

We are happy to announce the next phase of public discussion of CC Ireland's licence draft, CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 Ireland. A previous version of this licence was published and opened for discussion and we are now seeking comments on the latest revised version.

To contribute a suggestion or question, please visit the BY-NC-SA 3.0 licence draft page and use the wiki’s discussion page to share your thoughts. You are also welcome to join the CC Ireland mailing list for further news and commentary about local activities.

The public discussion is an open forum where everyone – from lawyers to active licence users, from linguists to translators — can contribute and improve the licence texts. Comments should be submitted as soon as possible to allow enough time for review, so we encourage you to post to the list before the end of March 2011, when the discussion is scheduled to close.

[P]erhaps the most obvious sign of just how mainstream Creative Commons has become (after emerging from its libertarian, academic roots at Stanford University) is that the Obama administration uses it for licensing content on the official White House website, whitehouse.gov. It was also used for change.gov, the Obama-Biden transition team website.

Feedback in these final stages is again, invited from the Irish public. More information is available at creativecommons.org/international/ie/, where anyone can subscribe to the discussion list, view the current copy of the draft, and read what's described as an "English explanation of substantive legal changes" between drafts.

The draft of CC BY-NC-SA adapted to Irish law is now in public discussion. The public discussion is a key part of Creative Commons’ license porting project. It is an opportunity for you, content creators and licence users, to engage in the drafting process and give your input in this collaborative effort. We warmly invite you to join CC Ireland’s discussion list and share your comments with local and international legal experts.
